for those who got quotes in the 40s, mind sending your design/builds? I was quoted 50 without fancy fixtures. size is about 8 by 13. That said the 50 is with a design and build so maybe it is worth it. I had a contractor come in and give me a quote of 11, without any hard or design costs so not sure what to make of that.
Design & Build companies are notoriously more expensive. I'd say 20% more at least. We went to a well-known one in Arlington, and they quoted us $40K for a medium sized kids bathroom without even seeing it or hearing what we wanted. It was shocking and made me realize immediately that they weren't a good fit. We ended up going with a contractor who had done bathrooms for two people we knew, had his own showroom of materials, did not sub out the work, had a master plumber and tile guys on staff for many years - and ended up getting everything we wanted for $28K (instead of $40K). But so many people think they NEED to hire a design/build firm. Which is ok, maybe they have no confidence in their own taste, and that's their choice. But then those same people tell everyone what they should expect to pay based on their experience at the higher price point.
