There is a poster who always mentions her "ponte pants and silk scarves" as if that's the height of good taste. I honestly can't remember the last time I wore a silk scarf, if ever.
Yes! And for years has been talking about her crisp button ups. I was about to respond and say I wonder if it is the same person and then I reread the post above and lo and behold she mentions the button ups. Who wears “crisp” button ups anymore? They were a thing when I went to law school 20 years ago. Not so much now. Maybe the Hermes scarves pull it all together
Sigh...my husband who is pretty clueless on gifts usually avoids buying "stuff" - we are much more likely to celebrate birthdays by going out to a nice restaurant than exchanging gifts. But he got a suggestion a couple years ago from a friend to buy me a Hermes scarf for Christmas -- I think it was $400? I work for an nonprofit. I've worn it to work-related events and have gotten compliments on it but honestly would be pretty embarrassed if anyone recognized it as Hermes. It goes without saying that when I have worn it the entire rest of my outfit including shoes likely cost far less than $400. My more splurge clothes come from Anthropologie. I love MM LaFleur but the only items I've owned I bought from consignment stores or Poshmark. Ditto for Eileen Fisher - love it for sweaters and basics but shop for it at Nordstrom Rack and when there's a big sale on.
