Just posted above at 21:19....as far as grades go, trust me these hall walkers are failing classes at my school. I don't say that as a matter of pride or happiness. But they sure as hell aren't passing. The problem isn't the skipping as it relates to grades. The problem is the sanctity of these institutions has been sullied by MCPS. It feels like the people who made these policies have either never worked in a high school before or haven't been in schools for like 10-15+ years. It's dystopian seeing this. No joke, you parents here would just be so sad. I'm sure some of you would blame us staff. Go ahead if that floats your boat. It's just the policies of the district that leads to this. Microcosm of society, really......
The policies are baked in colleges of education at various universities and then implemented by delusional leaders who latch onto stupid buzzwords and trends instead of common sense and the basics.
Replying back to you. Agreed 100%. We talk about this all the time at our school. It's a joke. I would love to see some central office dinguses come model for me, a physically able and mentally confident 40 year old man, how to disperse and redirect a large group of 17 year old boys roaming the halls of the local HS; or selling weed in the bathroom; or letting randos from the community in and out of the back doors of the giant building; or breaking up a group fight between adult-sized teenagers; etc etc etc. It's so funny imagining some crunchy 60 year old NPR lady from kensington or whatever coming to wheaton or germantown or burtonsville to show us how it's done!
