Mitt paid more taxes last year than obama has in his entire life
And he probably makes more in a day than I make in a year. Are you suggesting that there should be a flat amount paid rather than a (varying) percentage?
logically speaking, does 1 person who makes more money utilize more government services? If a family has 1 car but makes 1 million a year does their 1 car wear out the roads as much as a family who makes 40k a year with 1 car?
They often do. A wealthier familiy tends to run more cars. They have pools and giant lawns which utilize more of the water supply. Their children are more likely to get into the costly public flagship universities like Berkeley, U VA, and Michigan, where the states have t to pay higher salaries to keep the Nobel Laureates from defecting. They establish residences in low tax states like Texas, but spend lots of time in their pied a terres in NYC. The upper middle class tend to buy up the property near federally subsidized transit programs, like Metro, expropriating a lot of the benefits of those subsidies.
