There's no Chinese who worry to the extent Americans do about this. As a Chinese American I always laugh at this topic. Chinese civilization spans 5000+ yrs. You think they're idiots?? Chinas got enough to think about these days. Why in the world would they go pick a fight with their own country folk who live on a strongly defended island and have the support of a major player like US in addition to most of the free world? I mean would any of you want to make a new prob just for kicks for yourself? Makes no sense and completely illogical which the Chinese are definitely not. This is the talk of Americans - always has and always will. It's like some sort of weird drama/fantasy topic to chit chat about because there's nothing else to gossip on. There's a negative 10000% chance of China invading Taiwan to convert them into communists or whatever in at least the next few years. Maybe things change up down the line but politically, financially, militarily, logically, China would lose in every possible way if they considered it. Again the Chinese have been around. Their government consist of the most educated and brightest not like here where we have idiots in government. They may be communist but they are not fools. Add that a lot of Chinese have family in Taiwan and vice versa like my family on both sides. We are all Chinese. In Russias case it's about Putin who is mad. Russia rules differently than China. Putin runs the show there where in China, there is no mad man dictator.
Agree with this. None of my Chinese friends, colleagues, or acquaintances are agitating for a mainland invasion of Taiwan. Not sensing any popular support for this at all. China is a very big country. This does not figure very prominently in people's concerns. Most recognize it would be a stupid thing to do. It would be very costly in lives lost, strategically, economically, politically. Meanwhile, Evergrande, a major property developer, just collapsed. That is a much bigger deal for mainland China than whatever with Taiwan. The CCP aren't idiots. No one is invading Taiwan anytime soon.
