I don’t understand what the makeup artists were doing with SV’s eyebrows. You could see the latex and weird “laminated”-style brows pasted on top. Unless that is actually what GB’s brows looked like, and it wasn’t, I really don’t get what they were doing.
Were they trying to make her look different? Or less beautiful? Honestly, I just thought, “Wow…she hasn’t aged well.” But then I googled Griselda and discovered the real person wasn’t attractive so perhaps they wanted to downplay her looks.
Call me crazy but I thought the point of makeup in a role was to try to make the actor look like the person they’re playing.
Sure…but nobody knows what the real Griselda looked like…she isn’t a household name. And all they really did to Vergara was give her a hairstyle (wig?) that looks spot on for the time period and pack on very heavy makeup. Right? She isn’t wearing prosthetics, is she? She’s just not all contoured up like a Kardashian.
She might not be a household name like Pablo Escobar, but I'd think the majority of people have heard of Griselda Blanco and anyone can find out what she looked like in five seconds. There were indeed prosthetics, including a prosthetic nose. Also large fake yellow buck teeth. And indeed a wig. And those bizarre brows. Vergara has been on the talk show circuit going on about her hours in the makeup chair, and there's a "trending" story about her telling Kelly Clarkson to shut up about it not being much of a transformation. I'd never seen Vergara in anything before and I think had only seen a few photos of her on here, but it was very obvious to me watching the series that the transformation was extensive. My confusion is just that it was a really, really bad one, and she ended up looking nothing like Griselda Blanco.
