I’m not the OP, but my kid’s bus stop is 3 miles away, down a narrow curvy road with no sidewalk or even a shoulder, and the bus picks up while it’s still dark outside.  “Kid should walk to the bus stop” is not a one size fits all response.[/quote]

DP but does your kid go to private school?  How is it possible for the school bus stop to be 3 miles away?[/quote]

No it’s public.  In our district students can choose to go to a different school than the one they are zoned for to attend specialty programs. [/quote]

That's what I do in the morning.  But for pickup, he rides the bus and I pick him up at the bus stop.   There is a massive line and pick up, and the traffic directors (rightfully) give priority to the buses to exit the lot.   So even though the distance to the school isn't that much further, picking him up at the bus stop takes about half the time.

It's insane and I don't love it.   There is actually another "hub" bus stop that is only 1.5 miles from our house AND there are sidewalks/crosswalks the entire way--it would be a long-ish walk, but it would be a safe walk, and I would have him walk from that one.   But we were not assigned that stop and I was told "absolutely not" when I called and asked if he could be assigned to that stop instead.[/quote]
