Are parents upset about grading? My kid is only ever upset when she her work is not graded and/or returned in a reasonable amount of time. And by that, I mean like 2 months. What I dearly wish is that all schools within the school system had uniform policies about well, anything really. Teacher A allows retakes up to 100 points for anyone that chooses to do so, while Teacher B allows retakes only up to 85 after the kids have done corrections and additional work, while Teacher C calls corrections on a previous test a re-take.
I think it depends on the grade level. My 5th grader has brought home very few graded things this year, including quizzes. The tests I can see online thru Schoology but nothing else. really. My kid's 4th grade teacher graded everything so I had a really good sense of what I needed to work with my kid on. But at the end of the day, it's 5th grade so I'm not going to raise a stink about anything. In high school, the stakes are a lot higher, so I get why parents and anxious students get upset about delayed or little grading.
