I doubt the founding fathers anticipated the level of crazy rampant now or that gun ownership would be weaponized as a hollow symbol of freedom. The trouble is people who are not fit to own guns leave guns lying around and have enabled countless school shootings. Criminal networks have unregistered guns and violent crime is rising . The founding fathers never ruled out sensible gun controls. They did not anticipate modern life would give rise to so much untreated mental illness and social disconnection. Further there were armed militias threatening civilians at the time. Now we have police, military and armed forces to protect civilians. [/quote]
