Miles’ Anything else looks ridiculous and outdated or flat out wrong.
Why do you prefer Miles’ over Miles’s? I know you say anything else looks outdated or flat out wrong, but could you elaborate? Genuinely curious.
I’m an editor, and I prefer Miles’s because of how you’d pronounce it. (Miles-ez). OTOH, for something plural like, “5 cats’ water bowls” you wouldn’t pronounce it like “cats-ez.” But what’s correct is whatever your style book says; both Miles’ and Miles’s are accepted these days. AP just took off the extra “s” to save space in newspapers. Same reason it dispensed of the serial comma. But if you don’t need to save space, to me AP isn’t as logical or clear.
