Or 'you didn't need to come'[/quote] Not a teacher but a long-time classroom and event volunteer here….and I’ll agree with the teacher. Ours, too, went through a phase where they said those things, or they’d roll their eyes and I learned to hang way back, or hide in the shadows…but they’ve come around to realize that it really is special if/when a parent really “shows up” (and doesn’t fall asleep, stays on their phone, or otherwise looks bored and irritated to be there). If you don’t want to go, OP, AND they’ve asked you not to….then don’t. But if you want to, go and be shameless in your support of your child.
