I see Allison Hockman, a DO who practices at Rockville Internal Medicine. She’s really personable and reassuring and her approach is to be a “one stop shop,” for most of your medical needs. She has responded quickly to my questions via the My Privia app. The practice is huge and it’s a well oiled machine. I’ve never had a long wait in the waiting room. They have a nurse advice line, some virtual appointments, a walk-in clinic for sick appointments, and a number of specialists. I’ve been really pleased with my care.
+1 on Dr. Hockman. She is great. But I don't think she's still taking new patients. There are some new providers at that practice (which is well run) that are taking new patients but looks like some are NPs.
I tried switching drs at RIM and they don't allow it. Tried to switch from Shik. Also their website is misleading--they make it seems like their drs are taking new patients and then you try to schedule and then they inform you they're not.
to add to this, I use RIM just for an annual check-up but if I had an actual problem that I would want further in-depth analysis of I would just bypass them and go to a specialist. The only reason I keep them is because their lab in house and they're just a few minutes from my house, so it's pretty easy access in and out.
