Distract, distract, distract as other PPs have said. And, this sounds nuts, but talk to your 'inner child' and tell her all the things you want to hear. Everything you want this BPD or any other nitwit to say, say it to yourself instead. That consoling voice is the voice you want to hear and listen to.
Actually, I would do the reverse, and listen to all the things the inner child wants to say, without any judgment. Your inner child is like anyone else -- a person who wants to vent and be listened to. The key here is to listen without trying to come up with any solutions, plans, theories, etc. Just listen and let the child talk. This is ultimately the goal of meditation -- getting to a place where you can let your mind and emotions talk to you without you immediately reacting or thinking about what they are telling you. Because you don't immediately react, you create space where you can see the issues clearly and begin to see how you can resolve them.
