+1  I'm sorry, OP. My elderly father just had COVID and, honestly, seems to have deteriorated a great deal since then (physically and mentally). People who are angry about restrictions feel that elderly people are expendable, and that hurts, as does the fear of losing a loved one.[/quote]
Stay strong, PP.  My otherwise healthy dad (late 70s) caught a nasty case of Covid last year and also was quite physically weak and mentally spent for several months afterwards.  It's been over a year now and I would say he is 95% back to normal.  It has left him with a slightly hoarse voice and the need to frequently clear his throat, but he is otherwise OK.  My mid-70s mom caught it at the same time, and while she wasn't quite as sick, she did have an alarming shortness of breath for a time.  These were healthy, fully vaccinated people, whose only risk factor was their age.  I try to be careful around them and don't visit if I have even the smallest whiff of a sniffle. [/quote]
