Seems on brand for the GOP so, to answer your question OP, as a liberal I would say that Rufo is not a "political hero" to me, but I can see how he would be to the GOP. (As an aside, I find it fascinating that some of these new GOP heroes are Ivy League grads, something that is usually anathema to the right--Stefanik, Bill Ackman, Rufo have all had "elite" educations.)
