Frankly, the federal government needs to retake jurisdiction over this city. Our local government has clearly demonstrated their corruption and complete inadequacy. From the sweetheart deals to developers (Chevy Chase Library “redevelopment” anyone?), to straight up incompetence (unwillingness to prosecute/hold criminals accountable), to willful dereliction of duty [b](the ungodly high property tax rate)[/b], to just disgusting acts like this (eww). The council and all local governance should be abolished and control returned fully to the United States House of Representatives as intended by our founding fathers.[/quote]

This is a sure sign that this post is not written by a DC resident, or anyone in the area.  DC's property tax rates are significantly lower - by about half - than surrounding jurisdictions, and are among the lowest in the country.  Even Loudoun County, where most of the hard core MAGAs in the area live, pay 0.875% to DC's 0.55%.  That's just under 60% higher than DC's tax rate.
