We should not be proud of ourselves when we don't, as a generation (if not as individuals), leave behind a better country than the one we inherited. Right now I think the near obsession with individual rights over collective action and concern for the community as a whole threatens that possibility. If our generation manages to avoid this pitfall, then we can be proud.   [/quote]
