What do you mean why?  Location is one of the important factors for many people if you didn't know.

Also, Northeastern is close to great for CS and engineering.
It was the first university that stood up separate whole college of computer science in the 80s.

I can't sing their praises enough, including those whom we have hired.

NEU has always had outstanding and well respected engineering programs, and consequently computer science programs, much to ignorant local naysayers' dismay.  I know many student applicant candidates who only preferred MIT to NEU, and that says much - but they are familiar, and did their proper homework about which schools to attend, including visiting in person, at the very least.

I think the issue is that people think they can be accepted, but obviously not everyone is accepted, and that burns some people when they are rejected. Hence, it is a favorite DCUM Smear Award candidate, along with a couple of other schools.  If you have to get your college information from DCUM, I don't know what to tell you.

You really do have to visit the campus yourself, OP - not listen to people who are burned that their college is not as good. [/quote]
