The senator connection made only one step easier for one but they had perfectionist expectations from parents and the other didn't have a connection but didn't need to hustle for that recommendation as much because they had amazing grades/backstory/service work/awards... It's possible I just knew some excellent students and the bar isn't so high for others?[/quote]
