It's ONLY newbies who can significantly increase their strength/lift weight while in a calorie deficit and therefore inherently losing some amount of lean mass. Increase in lift does not necessarily come from increased muscle mass, particularly for beginners. Beginner gains don't come from increased muscle mass. They come from quick increase in skill, coordination and increase in control of the muscle which leads to being able to use more of the available muscle fiber. A beginner can significantly increase their lifts and not gain a single ounce of lean mass and even while losing lean mass. That's what's going on with you. [/quote]
