That's not identity theft, that's credit card fraud. I have been a victim of identity theft several times - someone filed a tax return in my name this year to get some kind of low income tax credit, I've had someone file for unemployment in my name, and DH had someone do the same and then open a bank account in his name to deposit the checks. Credit card fraud is when someone has your number and charges things to your account. Are you sure you've never ordered something on their computer and maybe the credit card info autofilled?

I would raise it with your mother if only to make her aware that he needs to be monitored more closely. And frankly I would raise it with him as well - just say you found a charge on your account for something he ordered and ask him to reimburse you for the order. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe it wasn't, but I think you need to raise it no matter what.[/quote]
