At the very least, their baggage rules were comparable to IcelandAir. Whether IcelandAir just doesn’t enforce size is another issue. But if I recall what I was reading last night, checked bag size and weight was the same, carry-on size was very close, and Play’s personal item is smaller. A larger personal item, food & beverage service, and entertainment were not worth an extra $800 to me. I can bring my own snacks and download shows to my phone. I’ll be trying to sleep anyway.

I think you should be okay for summer 2024. Demand continues to be very strong to Europe, and they should be able to get good revenue going near the end of winter for summer bookings.

I would be cautious about summer 2025. My guess is that international demand will start moderating by then (like it has in the US now) as the pent up covid demand burns off. If you start to see reports in late fall 2024 of slowing bookings for summer 2025, that could be the death knell for Play, as it has been in the past for other airlines with this strategy.[/quote]That’s good to know. Every single one of these low fare trans-Atlantic airlines has gone out of business within 5 years or so. It's an impossible business long run because of the huge seasonality in the demand. It's just impossible to cover the fixed costs during the slow months unless you can absolutely have a killer peak season. Play and Norse Atlantic will surely be out of business within the next 3-4 years. Only question is exactly when.[/quote]
