We didn't get a glider/recliner but did get a padded rocking chair and ottoman. Used it for 2 years. I did find it useful and it was particularly useful for nighttime feedings and wake ups for the first year -- DH and I both used it a lot for that and I think it would be hard to get through that phase without something because you are so tired and just want to lie down, but the baby really wants to be rocked. So it's kind of a no brainer there. But after the first year it had increasingly little utility, IMO. We had a full size bed in the nursery and we'd lie down on that to read books or snuggle before bed. We did sometimes sit in the rocker, but it just was no longer as important. We were one and done but if we'd wanted more kids I might have invested in a glider since we would have used it for multiple kids. But I didn't want to invest in such a big, expensive piece of furniture just to use it for a year or two. I'm glad we went with a less expensive rocker, which was also easier to get rid of since it was not upholstered so stayed in better shape and resold quickly.
