My skeptical opinion ~ Teacher(s) haven't decided yet, how the grades for each individual student will align, to result in the desired/established/dictated overall class grade distribution.
What? You really think there is a conspiracy where teachers force grades to meet a distribution? I wish I had that much time/energy. I give a test, put the scores in the gradebook, and the scores are distributed as they are. My first period class has all As and Bs with 1 C and 2 Ds. My 8th period (same course!) has half Cs and Ds. There is no manipulation. Literally the only changing I might do is bump the 89.4 senior who just got an A on their test to an A- to send with their college apps. Everyone else gets what they get. But my grades were also 99% done last week, and I’m only grading late work this weekend.
