It means to be defeated or lowered in esteem or importance. I get that people use words without understanding their meanings all the time, but being humbled is a hard, difficult experience. It's... humbling. Nothing that you would announce proudly to friends and family on social media is humbling. You cannot be humbled by an honor or achievement. That's the opposite of humbling.[/quote]
