DCUM also skews white and wealthier, so basketball is just not a sport that will help kids with college acceptances. Most parents with talented players see the writing on the wall in middle school. It really depends on the high school you are zoned for (or private that you get into) as to whether your kid will make the team. The club / aau landscape is chaotic and you have to hustle for information. Not something wealthier parents are used to doing. It's easier to recommend trainers rather than actual teams, though I've also had my trainer recommendations shot down for no apparent reason.[/quote]
