As a PP noted if he needs to burp he goes to his room and closes the door. Then he won't have an audience. Also, tell him if he can't stop a visit to the doctor is in order to see what's wrong with him.
This.
Every time you hear him burp he loses a privilege. If he "can't help it" you tell him you'll call the doc and if the doc says he's doing it on purpose he loses another privilege. He's welcome to stand in his room all day and burp but if someone else hears it there are consequences.
Let me guess, you have adult children who don't talk to you anymore. Punishing a child for a harmless phase that is perfectly normal is really overcontrolling parenting and the type of behavior that makes children not want to spend much time with their parents when they reach adulthood. You are completely overreacting and this is just plain bad parenting. I agree with everyone that says to ignore it. In a couple of months, it will be old for him and it will stop. If it annoys you so much you can't ignore it, ask him to go to his bedroom or the bathroom to burp.
OP says he's doing it "constantly" over and over again. I'm going to assume that's not just a couple of burps here and there throughout the day. That's obnoxious and different from doing it randomly. People burp in normal society, but say excuse me and don't do it 20 times in a row. There's a difference between over-controlling and permissive parenting, and someone burp at you for minutes on end is gross and he should be told so and to knock it off or take it elsewhere.
