I have told the hair dresser not to style it after a cut. My reason was that I was going swimming later that day so it would be pointless. So I walked out of the salon with damp hair.
I do this all the time with no issue. Are you able to style your hair back at your office or wherever? I have curls too so I sympathize- I have to bend my head over with my hair dripping wet to get the curls to lay right and it’s a whole process that I just couldn’t really do at the office, but maybe you can! I think it would be a little weird to do your own hair with your own products right there in the salon. May be awkward for other customers to see that you don’t like the way your stylist does it. But it seems like your options are to ask him and make it awkward, reschedule your haircut, be unhappy with your hair for the evening. OR maybe you could ask for a blow out and just wear it straight for a few days - I can never get my hair as smooth and straight as my stylist can, though it adds a lot of time and some extra money to my appointment!
