Hopkins - Carnegie Mellon - U of Rochester - Case Western are all, to me, similar schools, even down to their tech/business + arts focuss. They are wonderful schools for serious students. For a lab interested in business, I would look at Michigan, Wisconsin, NYU, Northwestern and Indiana.
Could anyone in this thread compare and contrast Case Western with Rice and Wash. U.?
I can’t but I can tell you that the kids I know who apply to CWRU always apply to Rice and Wash U, too. The only one I know who chose one of the latter two over CWRU went to Wash U with a way bigger aid package. They liked the kids at Case better but had 4 other siblings so they had to chase aid. Rice was a big deal for a while and I love the neighborhood around the campus, but it fell out of favor in our high school and neighborhood circles. I couldn’t tell you why.
My son must be an exception. Didn't apply to Rice or Wash U. He limited his private schools (except for two ivies) to those that had the potential to provide merit. In addition to CWRU, he applied to NEU, BU, Lehigh and 6 publics.
