[/quote] NP here. YES. Our $50 billion in aid does not give us carte blanche to launch trillion dollar wars. Of that money, $15 billion is military support (like the 5 billion to Israel and Egypt), not exactly charitable giving. Another 7 billion is security assistance. 3 billion for the war on drugs. 1 billion anti-terrorism, 2 billion yet another defense program. It goes on and on. So basically more than half is another form of US defense spending anyway. When it comes to real charitable giving, how do we rank as a country? As you can see from this Gates Foundation graph, we are one of the LEAST generous countries when you adjust for size: [img]http://www.gatesfoundation.org/annual-letter/2010/PublishingImages/11-net-aid-gdp-chart.gif[/img] The world can get along without 25 billion of aid.
