It occurs to me that we should offer EU countries and the UK the easy option to emigrate from their country to ours. Republicans are worried about "replacement", fine let's invite some of their European counsins. Wonder how many would take us up on it? No free health care, little vacation, no disability, poison food, free education, and don't forget mass shootings. yay us
I support this as a dem but it would never pass congress. Dems struggle with even the slightest reform towards more skill based vs family reunification visas within the immigrant pool due to strong lobbies from the Latino community I don’t think even a president can carte Blanche allow visa free freedom of movement to specific countries. The way I would frame it is i would propose legislation that would allow all citizens of enumerated member g7 countries to have freedom of movement to live and work in the us on a “shall issue” visa basis. Dems obviously would say no but it would be a massive economic and cultural boost to the us while making the rest of the g7 even more dependent on us strategically.
