Is this actually legal in DC? To leave your car parked in an unzoned area for weeks? In Alexandria, it's 72 hours, to keep people from using the street as car storage. You can get a vacation exemption for 2 weeks, up to 4-5x a year. But you must notify the city.

Wrong. One can call parking enforcement, and they'll ticket you. Thankfully Alexandria parking enforcement is actually really responsive.

Pay to store your non-driven vehicles, or move to suburban sprawl. The city isn't a place to park your cars for weeks on end.

They will not ticket you for being parked on an unzoned street. I live on one and travel frequently for work.
