okay, so if I buy a shower gift off the registry, it gets shipped to her house, right? So is she supposed to open it at the shower? Or do I buy something that's on her registry and have it shipped to me? How do they know to take it off the registry?
Are you going to the shower? Is the store she is registered at local to you? If the answer to those questions are yes, I would just walk into the store, buy the gift in person. Most stores have a scan code at the bottom of the registry sheets and they scan those when they ring up the purchase, and it automatically notes that the item has been purchaed on the registry. The item will usually still show on the registry--but next to the "Number requested' there will usually be a column for "number purchased" or something and it will show that it has been purchased. If you are still nervous that it won't be accurately noted, you can always go online and check--but give it 24 hours for the store's system to update. If you're not going to the shower, have the item shipped either to the bride (usually the registry already has the adress on file) or to the host's home. If you send it to the host, she will have it available for the bride to open at the shower. If you are going to the shower, but are only able to purchase items online, have it shipped to you, and bring it with you to the shower.
