Does anyone know if you are typically with the same kids and just the teacher changes, or if both are mixed up for the sevond semester?
Everything can get reshuffled. Different teacher, classmates, period number, room number. It's like another first day of school when the second semester starts.
This is pretty much our experience as well. I have found in some higher level math classes where there are only a few teachers, sometimes kids will keep the same teacher. Same for electives. But the semester changes have never been an issue for my kids. In fact when they don’t particularly like a teacher, they know there’s an end in sight.
+1. Not every teacher is going to be stellar. If they don't like a teacher, it is an opportunity for a change.
And sometimes they lose a great teacher. It’s just as much a crapshoot as the initial teacher assignment. Most kids know this, and take it in stride. It’s impossible to avoid as long as there are single-semester courses, and limited sections of every class. Everything has to get reshuffled to balance class sizes in the new semester. Trying to accommodate the individual schedule requests of 1500-3000 students takes some serious juggling.
