My DS has practiced with a few of these clubs. ASA was really underwhelming for him. Coaches were all really nice but he didn’t thin the training or the kids were that intense or serious. They are still mostly a winning team but individually, he didn’t notice any standouts. Based on where DCU academy is recruiting from however, haven’t all those clubs have kids scouted into the academy? So they all can develop kids with pro potential. Not sure about the dislike for SYC. DS has played against them and they are great competitors . The coaching may not be for everyone but seems to be a cut throat environment.
Any club can have talented kids - technical ability is largely independent of coaching - it's down to the kid's own innate abilities + the amount of work the kid is willing to put in. Any club can encourage competitiveness. Competitiveness is a good thing - and if SYC develop it to a greater extent than other clubs that is a plus. However - in my view - coaching should be judged by how well the club teaches kids to make the right decisions at the right time, and the style of soccer they are able to play as a result. This is the main thing that coaches can teach. SYC is horrible at this.
+1
