The overwhelming majority of the chronically homeless are chronically homeless due to drugs and/or mental health. DC law allows them to be involuntarily committed for treatment if a qualified healthcare professional thinks they need it. They should start doing that. Give them a choice, either a. be committed and go into treatment, or b. find somewhere other than DC to hang out and do drugs or terrorize a neighborhood with an untreated mental illness.[/quote]
