Scientists respect facts and research. The GOP is about fluff and slogans, but don;t actually get things done, other than tax cuts. The GOP certainly doesn't follow science in crafting any legislation, so why should scientists respect the GOP?
So… fluff and slogans like: “Defund the Police” “Build Back Better” “Black Lives Matter” “Intersectionality” “Lived truth” “No Human is Illegal” “Check Your Privilege” “ACAB” “Smash the Patriarchy” … and so many more? Like those?
Say what you will about a specific brand of silly progressivism (and I'll hold my tongue about the equally numerous and considerably more absurd fluff and slogans from Republicans) but Democrats actually get things done. The most recent significant piece of Republican-led legislation that wasn't a tax cut was probably 20 years ago the Medicare Modernization Act. It shouldn't be shocking that educated people are increasingly choosing to refrain from voting for a party whose central planks are culture war claptrap and tax cuts for people who don't need them.
