For DC wave (or any year round team) there is definitely a "your kid is not recommended for any group" that can happen. More likely the older they are and less experience they have.

Most MCSL pools have a "must be able to get 1 length across in something resembling a freestyle" minimum qualification.  Since the county MCSL pools (Long Branch, Bethesda etc) don't have waitlists, then you could get on a team there fairly easily.  Not saying a new 7/8 year old is going to do a lot of "A" meet swimming, but all the kids start somewhere.[/quote]
