[/quote] In Virginia, VEPCO indeed is doing targeted installation of underground lines, but only for the small number of segments which have the highest outage rates. So parts of two roads in our area - maybe 1-2 miles total - will be going underground in the next 6 months. Work already is underway on this project. These are heavily forested areas/roads, where frequent tree trimming has not been able to reduce storm-related outages. For any *new* neighborhood/subdivision projects (nearly) anywhere in metro DC, the land developer really ought to be required to install all underground utilities.[/quote]
