I'm the PP who went to Tegernsee. For folks who have been to both Alpine lakes in Germany/Austria and Switzerland, I'm curious if Swiss ones are nicer (and how much nicer), given that it is more expensive. Is it just that food is better? Anything else?
Alpine lakes are alpine lakes. The specific views will vary of course, but "nicer" is entirely subjective and is an aesthetic rather than objective judgment. Switzerland is more expensive; I'm not sure the food is necessarily better there. There are larger cultural and other distinctions as you'd expect, although those differences aren't as great in the alpine regions as they are in more urban environments where cleanliness, crime, bureaucratic efficiency, immigrant communities, etc will be more noticeable.
