NP- will they accept a ratified sales contract? We're from out of the area about to put in an offer on an off market property and I'm wondering if the closing date matters to ensure my kid can still go on the first day.
I don't believe they will, because so many things can go wrong between contract and settlement. I also feel like that would be an easier document to forge.
No, not a ratified sales contract. You need to have proof that you have closed. As PP pointed out, a lot can happen between contract and settlement. There are so many contingencies that people get out or ratified sales contracts all the time (even in no-contingency sales, if there is an HOA, there is an HOA contingency that cannot be waived by state law in most states). So you have to actually have closed. When our kids were in K, we bought in the school district we wanted. I called the school office and they told me exactly what I needed out of the closing documents package to bring to the office to register. So you might try that. I was told the name of the form and I just searched through the 982 pages until I found the document with that title and brought that. And I registered my kids in like 15 minutes at the school office.
