I'm that poster, and yeah - I know they care. I don't.  
But do they care enough for that to be the deal breaker to joining the Big10?  I think USC WOULD be a dealbreaker.  
I think they like playing Stanford because it reenforces the idea that you can be a great academic school and a great sports school, but I don't think they outrank USC in the "want to be able to play them" category.

I also think Navy would be a dealbreaker, especially given the outrage when the game was cancelled in 2020.  So if we have to continue playing Navy, and we only have one or two non-conference spots, I think they may be OK with giving up Stanford some years in return for the newly expanded Big 10 schedule.
