So does my white son have an easier or harder time getting into UVA today?
It's a guessing game on the impact of whatever admissions changes are made to meet diversity goals without as explicitly considering race and ethnicity. Any changes almost inevitably help some applicants and hurt other applicants - in this case much of it will be unintended consequences. It could be most confusing for minority applicants. For example if race is not considered directly but there are ways it will be considered indirectly - what are the best ways to play that game. Right now I am guessing the primary way to leverage affirmative action is check the race/ethnicity box and be near the top of the minority applicant pool on conventional metrics. Maybe it is a different game now.
