Try graduating in 2002. We got great jobs and made great money. We invested what were very significant sums of money for us very early. By 2008, after putting basically all excess cash in the market for 5 years we had an annualized negative 20%+ rate of return. You know what. It worked out fine. And yours will too. You can’t time when you are born. Clearly good timing helps some and hurts others but over the course of a lifetime it won’t really affect you.
What? I graduated in 2002. Got a job. Never made much money despite a good education. Even started my 401k at that time. I feel like I missed the boat as well. If you were able to invest significant sums of money early on, you belonged to a very small percent of the population in the first place and utterly lack self awareness.
