I know more than one person who has gone to Hopkins or Cornell undergrad (grade deflationary) and been disappointed to end up at a state school for med school - bc they were people who wanted the resume pedigree of Hopkins undergrad to Penn Med or whatever.

On the flip side I know more than one person who went pre med at Wisconsin or Virginia Tech, was a bigger fish in a smaller pond, and landed at med school at Penn or Mayo or Columbia.

I know some will say med school is med school it doesn't matter, but it does. Your ticket is written if you go to a top med school - in large part because they are pass/fail, so you are just there to learn and aren't then competiting to be in the top % of your class to get a good residency. You want to go to as highly ranked of a med school as you can get into.[/quote]
