In general, the future is frightening. In Jim Crow days, the whites thought that the blacks would out number them. Now, the whites are afraid of the hispanics. I know many people that are afraid of China, proclaiming that their children MUST know Chinese in order to be successful in a future where China owns us.

The only thing you can do is teach your kids what you can and wait and see.  My kids are mixed race, but I will teach them to excel at school and to hone in on what they are good at. If race becomes an issue, then it becomes an issue, but if they excel at what they do, they will be an assett in the future.

We cannot have a doomsday attitude about the future. Teaching your children that they will one day be at a disadvantage because of their skin tone is not a message that you want to send. Further, the idea that the whites need to band together in order to prevent other races from getting ahead of them is a tenet of the KKK and other white supremicist organizations.

Yes... white may not be the majority in the future. But, asians have been a minority in this country for many many years, and we have been okay. It'll be okay if white is not the majority... I'm under the impression that everyone will be mixed race eventually, so everyone will have a little white in them anyway, so it'll be a nonissue. [/quote]
