I don't think anyone but you called religion and atheism "artificial constructs".  Religion, broadly speaking, is a brief system.  Atheism is not a belief system.  It is the lack of a belief system; the lack of theism.[/quote]

OK that (position that atheism is not a belief system) is the position of the Atheist International Allaince but I believe the truth is much more nuanced and non black and white. For the record, I am not proselytizing for any particular belief system although I am religious.

In a literal sense your contention that has been oft repeated in this forum may be true - 
“Atheism, in the broadest sense, is an absence of belief in the existence of deities. Less broadly, atheism is a rejection of the belief that any deities exist. In an even narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities.” (Wikipedia)

But atheism is an ideology and does guide non believers in understanding reality …
