What happened to Europe? Go take the trip. The job market is great in this “recession”
Yes - are you actually bummed out about the job offer? Or because you would walk away from 6months in Europe? If it’s the former, don’t accept the job. If it’s the latter, negotiate a delayed start date and maybe go on a 2 or 3 month trip to Europe.
Mainly because I don’t like the industry at all. Secondly, because they said they may want me to come in once a month, this foils my trip and my plans with my SO. He’s going to rent his condo and we planned on having a small ceremony in the fall. Then we wanted to go cross country and live on the West coast before we started trying for kids. Before they laid me off, my job was 100% remote and my teammates even lived in other countries. I asked my old manager what’s the timeline and he said he could give me a few weeks but then jokingly said, “don’t tell me you’re going on your honeymoon in August then traveling in September”.
That was your perfect opportunity to say that was exactly what you’re planning! Fess up to your plans and ask if he can wait or accommodate your already-set travel plans. He’ll likely say no and then your conscience will be clear!
