I've watched the first two episodes so far and while it's pretty terrible, I'm probably going to keep watching only because i do like seeing these young people who are interested in marrying within Judaism. I'm Jewish, and when I was in my teens and 20's (I'm 51 now) my parents made it very very clear that they would not accept me marrying anyone who isn't jewish. I swore I wouldn't put my own kids under that pressure, and I stick to that, but it's nice to see these youngins who want it for themselves. I also just love seeing all these different versions of Judaism on my tv screen. I do worry though whether non-Jews who are watching are thinking that these people are idiots, and how this will lead to more stereotyping.
They most certainly are idiots Anyone who needs a matchmaker is an idiot Anyone willing to on a reality show is hungry for publicity
I agree anyone who goes on a reality tv show is ridiculous but I wouldn't judge anyone for wanting the services of a matchmaker. You're very harsh PP.
+1. I would say the people featured on the show are very difficult, they are single for a reason and they are there for entertainment value. Ori is a misogynistic pig, and bonus, is a loser who doesn’t seem to have a career and lives at home with his parents in his what, thirties? Dani is very full of herself. Harmonie is shallow, completely non self-aware as to why she is single and childless at 44 despite wanting those things, and keeps making the same mistakes and letting genuine guys with similar guys go. Cindy is stuck up, and just hoping to meet an improved version of her ex. Some of the people they were matched with seem like great people. I liked Aron, the guy harmonie was matched with but rejected because “the conversation was great, but she needed to feel more physical attraction.”
