Only publics from *Northern* Virginia matters, if that's your student.
This. You shouldn't have any if you're from a NOVA public, per staff at our HS. It's rare you'll get in with Bs.
Totally not true! I'm one of the PPs whose kid had a bunch of Bs. They were admitted (class of '26) from an FCPS school (not the top 3 but up there) and while the fall semester was a bit of an adjustment (GPA was 2.9 I think), they have almost all As this semester (still has finals left). ED is the way to go for W&M. No way DC would have gotten in RD with their stats.
+1. I’m another multiple B parent of the unhooked white female above. It happened in ED1 for my kid with multiple Bs. Strong junior year, strong senior schedule and junior year that could be written off due to COVID helped. So did a very strong ACT helped. HS in the top 1/4 from FCPS. Her guidance counselor told her she should get in ED1, but would not RD. And was right. Friends with much higher GPAs did not get in RD. A benefit of ED that Solingo discussed that people on this Board don’t. Fewer applications means more time with each app to really understand the kids story and consider fit. 3.5 first semester. One B, rest As second semester going into finals.
^^ sorry. Sophomore year could be explained by COVID.
